Disappointing Snow Day

I was so utterly disappointed that I didn't get snowed in today, so I reluctanlty went to work. (I love my job, but I really love snow days!) I had high hopes of snapping a few great wintery photos, but all I managed to get was a couple of flakes. You have to look really close to see them! Oh well, the building in this photo is State Hall at Arkansas State University in Beebe. I think it was built around 1949.

This is my favorite image from our photo editing assignment. I had fun using a Wacom Tablet to pencil in the color. I'm learning a lot in Photoshop!

Having a Hard Time...

I am in the process of completing an assignment for my Survey of Computer Based Learning class, and I'm having a difficult time coming up with appropriate images from my choices available through clip art. I have found some great images that I must purchase to use, but I would really rather not pay for images at this point. I am starting to realize that sometimes it may be easier to obtain appropriate images for my assignments by taking photos myself. I know that I can't supply all the images I use, as I don't own many props, but I am going to purchase a cheaper camera that I can tote with me everywhere just in case a photo opportunity presents itself. The Nikon I've been using is not mine, and I cannot afford to replace it if I break it. I have an iPad, but I'm not satisfied with the quality of the pictures it takes. I am considering buying a Nikon Coolpix. I guess I'll check out some reviews on the Coolpix before I make a decision.

Ready for another week!

I guess I'm ready for another week of discussions, assignments, work, and all the other stuff that keeps me movin'. I'm still a little anxious about all of my classes in the LSTE program. I did well in my classes last semester, but I second guess my work a lot. I have a good friend who is working on her Master's in Educational Leadership. Her program has her working on one class at a time for five weeks, then she gets a week break and starts another five week class (unlike my three classes at a time for a full semester). Anyway, the classes move really fast so there are huge assignments due each week. She can sit down and write a paper or complete a big assignment in mere hours. I just can't bring myself to do that. I am the type of person who needs a week to think and brainstorm. Then I need another week to create a rough draft or outline and compile information. Then I actually feel fully prepared to delve into the project around week three. This is something I really feel that I should work on. I realize that when I land my dream job as an educational multimedia designer I will have deadlines that don't exactly flow with my own creativity timeline. I don't feel that it's a time management issue or even a procrastination issue, so what's the deal?

My Introduction Blog- First Blog EVER!

My name is Lindsay Clements. I am an Adult Education Instructor at Arkansas State University in Beebe. In addition to my current position, I taught middle school Language Arts and held a position as an Academic Interventionist at an elementary school. I have worked with children since I graduated high school and landed my first job in a child development center. I would describe myself as creative, nurturing, and dedicated to learning and teaching.

I have a twelve year old son, Corbin. He is a funny, smart, caring, lovable, and sometimes overly dramatic young man. I've been in a long-term relationship for almost twelve years to a great guy who puts up with my questionable cooking, annoying habits, and all other shortcomings I may have. We own and operate a marketing and photography business in Central Arkansas. He is the photographer of the family, so I'm looking forward to learning new skills that will help me step up my game! I'm also looking forward to having a good excuse to use his Nikon D300! :)

Although I enjoy following other bloggers, I've never blogged before! I love the idea of incorporating a blog into this course! I love to write and read, and it seems silly that I haven't blogged before. I guess I like to remain a bit anonymous when it comes to putting my thoughts and opinions out on the web. I haven't had a Facebook account in almost three years! Don't get me wrong, I love the technology and idea of social networking, but I just want to keep my personal life somewhat private.

Well, I suppose that is all for this initial blog.
